Our Role

TCA's Role:

At Tennis Coaches Australia (TCA), we are dedicated to supporting and nurturing our network of passionate coaches across the country. The TCA Board of Management is a vital and unique medium through which we advocate for and represent the interests of our members. With representatives from all states in Australia, we ensure that every coach, no matter their location, is heard and supported.

As a partner to Tennis Australia, we work in collaboration with Tennis Australia Coach Membership (TCAM) to promote the education, training, and professional development of coaches nationwide. While Tennis Australia plays a key role in managing and promoting coaches, TCA addresses the specific issues that coaches face on a daily basis. Our role is to fill these gaps and ensure that coaches are supported in their careers.

Our Board members are not just leaders—they are coaches themselves, familiar with the challenges and demands of the profession. This unique understanding drives our efforts to protect and advance the future of tennis coaching in Australia. As coaches supporting coaches, TCA is committed to the well-being and success of all our members.

Mission Statement

Tennis Coaches Australia is steadfast in its mission to provide unwavering support to our members, living by the motto:

"Coaches supporting coaches, your voice, your network, together stronger" 

Our goals include:

  • Partnering with Tennis Australia to honour the terms set out when TCA members became part of Tennis Australia Coach Membership (TCAM) on 1 November 2006.
  • Engaging in regular correspondence and industry collaboration with Tennis Victoria and Tennis Australia, ensuring that the needs of coaches are consistently met.
  • Contributing to the TCAM Club/Coach Agreement document to reflect the current landscape of coaching.
  • Upholding the rich 60+ year tradition of the TCA, contributing to the growth and recognition of the tennis coaching community.
  • Organising the TCA Junior and AMT Platinum Annual Tournaments, which provide valuable competition and development opportunities.
  • Hosting an Annual Awards Function to celebrate excellence in coaching, including Hall of Fame, TCA Legend, 15-Year Service Awards, and various other categories that recognise up-and-coming talent and dedicated professionals.
  • Providing upskiling opportunities for one TCA member each year, offering funding for attendance at the US Coaches Conference and the Australian Open Conference.
  • Offering United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) associate membership to broaden professional opportunities for Australian coaches.
  • Conducting social events to build a sense of community and connection among coaches.

Through these efforts, TCA ensures that tennis coaches across Australia are supported, skilled, and recognised for their contribution to the sport.
