TCA President's Report

March 12, 2026

“Coaches supporting coaches, your voice, your network, stronger together”.

To TCA members,

I hope all our valued members have had a productive and prosperous start to the year. The Summer of Tennis, culminating in the AO, often acts as the springboard to set up a great start to the year. It is now up to the coaches, for the remainder of the year, to be the drivers of the game. It is with this understanding that TCA aspires to add value, and support, to its members.

We would like to inform you that three members of our Board resigned at the first meeting held, February 2026. All three resignations cited increased professional commitments decreasing their time to be able to devote to our Board.

I would like to thank Helen Magill [Regional], Ian Ketteringham [WA] and Helen Rice [SA] for their support and professional contributions. The board greatly appreciates the work they’ve done in supporting our mission to advocate and serve the private coaching industry.

This year marks our 75th Anniversary and our focus remains on serving our members and strengthening our association. Within two years we have built our membership from 200 TCAV [Tennis Coaches Victoria] to a new national organization TCA [Tennis Coaches Australia] with over 700 members.

We appreciate your continued engagement and believe we are stronger together.

In accordance with our model rules, the Board, by a majority vote, will appoint new members after opening up the board positions to our membership. We ask all members to consider applying for the board positions vacant below. The board requires experienced coach operators familiar with key industry issues who are able to advocate on behalf of coaches to TA through our bi-monthly meetings. All board member applicants must be current TA coach members. We are committed to transparency and will share further updates as decisions are made.

Wes Horskins

President - Tennis Coaches Australia

Board Vacancies

We hope all experienced TA coach members who wish to advocate directly with TA consider applying for this voluntary role. We suspect there are many coaches who would like the opportunity to have a say in shaping the future of our industry.

The TCA [Tennis Coaches Australia] board has vacancies to fill for the year 2026. TCA is an independent, incorporated association that acts as a subsidiary of TA coach membership existing to advocate on behalf of the private coaches industry directly to TA. TCA also hold social events, national coaching awards, TCA junior tournaments [all members may provide a TCA branded tournament] along with our core purpose of coach advocacy.

PLEASE NOTE: TCA members must be members of TA coach membership and TCA does not administer coach education courses.

Our board meets approximately eight to ten times a year, six of these with TA to communicate, lobby and advocate on behalf of the private coaching industry.

Preferable:

- Full time tennis coach

- 10 years+ experience

- A minimum amount of time to devote to the volunteer duties of the TCA board of management

I would like to apply for the board of management as the:

1] SA representative

2] WA representative

The board will consider ALL applicants, including those outside of the states rep positions above, based upon experience. A state's rep role is to advocate on behalf of that state's coaches. Therefore, they need an understanding of the issues that may be relevant from a coach perspective specific to that state.
