Dear TCA Members,
Thank you for your input
On behalf of the TCA Board, thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the recent Coaches Survey.
We had strong participation across both business owners and assistant coaches, and your feedback has given us a clear picture of what’s working, what’s challenging, and where there is opportunity across coaching in Australia.

Survey Insights: What we’re seeing from the survey
Across both groups, a few consistent themes came through:
There is strong support across the coaching community for clearer leadership at a national level, with most coaches wanting to see more focus on the long-term growth of the game, not just major events.
Coaches want to feel more connected and involved in the direction of tennis in Australia, with many expressing a desire for more direct communication and opportunities to have their voice heard.
Coaching itself is something people genuinely enjoy and care about, but there are real questions around whether the current structure makes it a sustainable long-term career, especially for the next generation.
There is a clear pressure on the coaching workforce, with operators finding it difficult to recruit and retain staff, and assistant coaches looking for more stable hours, income, and progression opportunities.
At the same time, the industry is built on a highly experienced and committed group of coaches, many of whom have been in the game for decades, but are now managing increasing demands across coaching, business, and administration.
What’s next
We’re now working through how to turn these insights into practical outcomes that support coaches across the country.
There are some exciting things in progress, and we’re looking forward to sharing more with you soon.
Thank you again for your time, your input, and your support of Tennis Coaches Australia.
Warm regards,
Wes Horskins
